- December 1890, U.S. soilders fearful of an uprising intercepted a ghost dance by the LakotaDancers
- They saw their peaceful practice of the ghost dance as a sign of rebellion fearing the Native Americans would take over
- This is a sign of rebellion
- They are preparing for war with their “bullet proof” ghost shirts

- The situation escalated quickly and turned violent which caused the death of 150-300 Native Americans
