At the Science Lab the students were asked by their teacher question on the electromagnets unit they had just finished
Can some one tell me what an electromagnet is?
Mrs.Powers, A electromagnet is a magnet made by using an electric current around an iron core
Good! Now can anyone tell me how they work?
You need a battery and a coil wire. You connect the wire to the battery and the electric current flows through the wire and then it can become a magnet
Who can tell me a important fact of an electromagnet
They increase the strength: by increasing the voltage, coils, and tightening the wire
They will always need an electric current and they have a direct current which is electricity that travel in one direction thru a closed circuit and is produced by a battery
My favorite is Oersted, because he showed how a current carrying wires behave like a magnet and without him the other scientist would not be able to formulate the Electromagnetic Wave Theory
Very Good you guys. I'm really happy that you guys understood the electromagnets unit
