  • The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Theme:
  • One major theme of "The monsters are due on maple street" by Rod Serling is that violence and fear doesn't solve problems. For example, when charlie is scared of the figure that's coming closer to them in the darkness, so he grabs the shotgun and shoots the figure down out of fear. But before he does Charlie says, "No more talk, Steve. You're going going to talk us into a grave! You'd let whatever's out there walk right over us, wouldn't yuh? Well some of us won't." In addition, all the residents of maple street are picking up rocks and throwing them at charlie's house. All it does is break a window and a light fixture inside and get charlie cut on his cheek. Next and now that everyone is scared and turned on each other charlie grabs the shotgun again and repeatedly fires, while the other residents are running around screaming and throwing rocks at each others houses. In Conclusion with all the evidence that I have gathered here it proves that violence and fear don't solve problems, it only makes the situation worse, much worse.
