This classroom setting demonstrates the teacher using the strategy of having the students apply their knowledge with choice. In the first panel, we see the teacher broach the topic for the lesson: comparing and contrasting. The students are not interested in this, and we see them immediately become disengaged and uninterested. However, in the second slide, the teacher lets the students know that they will be practicing this comparing and contrasting by having them do so with whatever topic they want. The students then are immediately engaged and in the third panel we see them passionately working on the lesson goals. The strategy of allowing the students to have choice in their learned immediately had the effect of engaging the class in what they were learning about.
