The Peloponnesian war(431-404 B.C) was a conflict between main Greek city-states, Athens and Sparta, each with its allies. Its principal cause was the discontent of other city-states of Athens taking most of Greece resources and becoming more powerful for own benefit

After a 15-year conflict, Sparta and Athens signed a Thirty year peace treaty. However, it only lasted 6 years because Sparta acused Athens of breaking the agreement, the leagues joined again and the 2nd Peloponnesian war begun
