- Well thats becasue of a thing called Gravity , Gravity is a force that occurs when a push or a pull is enacted on an object. Gravity is what keeps everyone andevery thing on the surface of earth
- Hey mom why isit that whenever I drop my water bottle it falls on the ground , shouldnt it just float like in space ?
- Okay well there are other factors that apply to gravity like that the more mass an object has the more gravitational force, and if you are wondering what mass its just the amount of space an object takes up so pretty much everything has a gravitational force even me and you !for example the sun has a huge gravitational force which causes it to have planets orbiting it.
- Oh thats so cool tell me more !!
- Hahah well honey thats because the sun has wayyy more mass then you and as I said the more mass you have the more gravitational force you have and your gonna need a WHOLE lot more mass to get satern to orbit you silly ! . Also the distance can also effect the amount of force to sum up: the amount of gravitational force an object has increases with the amount of mass it has, but decrases with the amount of distance between the object.
- Then how come I dont have planets orbiting me !?
- Basically something called gravity is keeping the water bottle from going into space :)
- Oh ok that makes alot more sense then all that other stuff you just said!!
