- The play “For My Daughter'' is about an extended family, showing deception, love, betrayal and guilt. Melissa, a young lady attending University lives with her “mother and grandmother” but unbeknownst to her was the truth about her “grandmother” and her “ mother”. Mellissa was always ashamed of her “mother” because of the scare she had on her face and so, she went as far as asking her “grandmother'' to pretend to be her “mother”. The truth came out one afternoon when her grandmother was going through an old family album as she continues to turn the pages:
- I am going to tell Melissa the truth
- Janet we spoke about this
- No that was you mother
- Wow she's beautiful.. was that you when you were younger Grandma?
- What is going on?
- No...No dear
- Mommy? you mean to tell me she wasn't born like that
- Well you see... well.. thinking about it now.
- What happened?
- I am going to tell Melissa the truth
- Enter Janet
- There was a fire.. almost thirty years ago
- Janet we spoke about this
- What is going on?
- Janet begin telling Melissa the truth about was happen that night and how her face got burn. She told Melissa how the argument start and how the house caught on fire . Molly started crying about of her action thirty years ago
- and what you just agreed to do, we spoke about that too... there was a fire melissa. a house not too far from here. where a man and a woman lived with his daughter. the daughter was doing her last year UWI and on her way to do medicine and ..........
- It was an accident ....
