Santiago joins a caravan group and meets an Englishman studying to become an alchemist. They travel to the Saharan oasis of Al-Fayoum where he falls in love with Fatima. “You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it's better to listen to what it has to say.”
He also meets an alchemist who teaches him valuable lessons and convinces him to continue his journey. On their way, they are captured and Santiago uses the power of wind and sun to escape.“You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it's better to listen to what it has to say.”
Santiago reaches the pyramids and begins to dig for the treasure. Two men begin to fight him and tell him the worthlessness of dreams. The man tells him about a dream he has where the treasure is buried under an old church next to a sycamore tree. This leads him to his real treaure.“No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn't know it.”
