- An atom is the smallest unit of an element. Atoms are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. They can vary in size depending on the element, they are in constant motion and are mostly made up of empty space.

- Biodiversity is the variety of life found in an area. It is often measured by counting the number of species in a specific habitat or ecosystem.For example amazon rainforest which has over 200 species of hummingbird, is more biodiverse than Ontario which has only a single species.

- A Comet is a chunk of ice, dust and rocks that travel in a very long orbit around the sun.When a comet gets close to the Sun, it glows. This creates a bright tail that can stretch across the night sky.

- Direct Current is one of the two forms of current electricity. In direct energy, electrons flow in one direction through an electric circuit.Batteries provide direct current to power things like a flashlight.

- An Element is a pure substance that can not be broken down into a simpler chemical substance by any physical or chemical means.For example, when considering silver, there is no chemical reaction or physical changes that will convert silver into anything chemically simpler.

- A food chain shows how energy is passed from one organism to another.Plants are usually at the start of a food chain because they make their own food.

- A Galaxy is the huge collection of stars, gas, dust, and planets that are located within the Universe.Earth is part of the milky way galaxy. It contains mo re than 200 billion star s, including the Sun.

- Homogeneous mixtures is a type of mixture whose component parts cannot be easily separated.An example of this is salt and water because because the salt completely dissolves into the water, meaning that the salt particles are evenly distributed throughout the water.
