Storyboard Text

  • Slide: 1
  • unless a continous horizonal force is acting on a falling object it will move horizontally with the same speed of the initial horizontal force, and it will not accelerate horizontally.
  • As an object falls towards the earth it accelerates. all objects have the same gravitational acceleration, this is due to gravitational force being porportional to an objects mass, such that they accelerate at the same speed
  • Slide: 3
  • QUICK SIDE TANGENT ABOUT ACCELERATION. When an object changes its direction it accelerates, this is because acceleration is really a measurement of changing velocity and direction is apart of a velocity. Here is an example.
  • The two obects are moving away from each other, however they are pulling each other closer due to their gravity. The gravity is perpendicular to the direction the bodies are moving in, causing them to orbit each other. This is an example of changing direction because these two objects are constantly changing direction

  • When a perpendicular force is applied to a falling object one might assume that the object moves in the direction of the greatest force, however instead the object moves horizontally in the middle of the two forces.
