  • During World War II the diplomacy between the United States and the Soviet Union was essential but, as soon as World War II ended, problems surfaced and tensions rose. Both countries were on opposite ends of the political spectrum the United States was a democratic nation while the Soviet union was a communist state with a totalitarian leader The US stood for capitalism while the Soviet union stood for state Governed markets as well as strict communism

  • Tensions were so high the US and the Soviet union would compete over any and everything a few examples are The nuclear arms race, the Marshall plan and Comecon, NATO and The Warsaw Pact, and the space race
