- "Romans, countrymen, and lovers! hear me for mycause, and be silent, that you may hear: believe mefor mine honour"
- "censure me in your wisdom, andawake your senses, that you may the better judge"
- "Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I lovedRome more"
- Brutus is calling out to all the people of Rome to listen to him and be quiet. He wants to make the crowd believe him and show them that killing Ceaser was a good idea.
- "Had you rather Caesar were living anddie all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to liveall free men?"
- In this quote, Brutus is saying to follow him, and you will have a happy life. He wants the people to have a better king than they already did.
- "As Caesar loved me, I weep for him;as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he wasvaliant, I honour him: but, as he was ambitious, Islew him"
- Brutus is telling us that he and Ceaser were great friends, but he had to kill him because he wants Rome to be safe and have a good king.
- "If any, speak; for him have I offended."
- Brutus is protecting the people by not making them slaves. If Ceaser were still alive, then everyone would be slaves. With Ceaser being dead, everyone can live happily and free.
- Brutus says this because he thought Ceaser was too powerful, so he had to kill him for the people.
- Brutus says that if you are against me and think Ceaser should still be alive, then you are not a person of Rome and that he is offended.
