- The Anand Family had recently moved to America from India because Dhruv Anand, Rivaan Anand's dad, had got a great job offer. Rivaan was in high school. Although he didn't want to make friends -because he was an introvert-, he had made one. His name was Sean Moore. He was in the same grade as Rivaan and they had English and Biology classes together.Rivaan thought of him as a very interesting guy, because he was usually silent during class but he got good grades. On the weekend, he called Sean over to his house to play some video games. His mother had left for some government work.
- Sean arrived to Rivaan's home at 8:00. As soon as they turned the console on to play video games, the power went out. The boys thought it was probably just a power outage. But little did they know what was waiting for them... They waited for a few minutes, just discussing about school and waiting for the power to come back. But then it happened. The door swung open suddenly with so much force that the the handle almost left a dent in the wall. To their surprise, there was no one outside. They ran to Rivaan's bedroom like little girls and locked themselves in the washroom.

- They heard the footsteps come up the stairs and stop when they reached the bedroom. The person (or whatever it was) banged on the door very hard and the kids heard a grunt from outside and then a knock. They embraced themselves for what they thought would be the final effort for the door to open. But the only voice they heard after that was "Rivaan, come out beta, we have a surprise for you!" Rivaan then proceeded to have a good night because it was actually his birthday and he had forgotten it because so much was going on in his life.
