Tom takes Gatsby’s car to town with Nick and Jordan. Gatsby takes the coupé car with Daisy. She suggests to go with him because she didn’t want to ride in the car with Tom.

Tom complains about them the whole ride to their suite at the Plaza Hotel. He confronts Gatsby about his past and relationship with Daisy. Daisy suggests going home. Gatsby tells him that she loves him more. Tom calls him crazy and says they love each other more. Daisy finally admits that she loves Gatsby and once loved Tom. Daisy wants to leave him, so Tom tells Daisy to go home with Gatsby in his car.
