- Good day, Mrs. Del Valle.
- Oh, that is Julia Salas, my sister-in-law.
- Oh, I go home to work, then I go "neighboring" with Father.
- Did you went straight back home after mass?
- Of course, he would not think of looking on other women because he is engaged to me. Maybe there's nothing that I need to be jealous about.
- Is that so? Alright then.
- At Don Julian's house, he and her daughter Carmen talked about Alfredo and Esperanza and what has happened about six weeks ago. Don Julian said he has been "neighboring" with Judge del Valle. And on the Judge's house, Alfredo met Julia Salas, sister-in-law of the Judge, who he always calls "Mrs. del Valle." He has been "neighboring" to the Judge's house often, later realizing that the reason behind that is he was in love with Julia, even though she was engaged to Esperanza.
- For what?
- Mr. Salazar... I wish to congratulate you.
- For your approached wedding.
- If you mean you want to take back your word, if you are tired of--why don't you tell me you are tired ofme?
- One Sunday morning, Esperanza asked Alfredo about his visits and asked him if he went back home after mass. He lied about his answer that he went "neighboring" with Don Julian after the mass. Then, she dropped the topic, thinking that there is no way that he would fall in love to another woman.
- Before the Holy Week, Don Julian invited Judge del Valle and his family to his house in Tanda, where his coconut plantation was also located. On the beach, Alfredo and Julia talked there. Then, Julia told him that she will be leaving and going back to her hometown to celebrate Holy Week with her parents. There, she said goodbye to him.
- Later on the day of the procession, Alfredo and Julia met again and she congratulated him for being engaged with Esperanza, then quickly left the church. At the end of that same day, he and Esperanza had an argument after she discovered about Julia. Sadly, she ran away during the argument.
- But in the end, Alfredo and Esperanza still got married to each other, with Alfredo being calm and happy about this event and not being bothered by his past with Julia.
- After eight years, Alfredo was sent to Sta. Cruz for a legal mission. Since it was Julia's hometown, he decided to visit her. By the time he visited her, then he found out that she is still not married. During that moment, he realized that his love for Julia has become like a dead star: he has no feelings for her and does not exist anymore.
