- A quote that describes why the mood is suspenseful is “Rainsford heard a sound. It came out of the darkness. , a high screaming sound, the sound of an animal in an extremity of anguish and terror.” This acknoledges that the mood is suspenseful because he is falling off the boat and the sound he hearing he had no idea what it was and where it was coming from .
- Conflict
- A quote from the story that describes foreshadowing is “ We will have some capital hunting , you and I , said the general. I shall be most glad to have your society.” This states that the general likes hunting stuff others than animals. Humans!
- Climax
- A ironic part that happens in the book is that “Even cannibals wouldn’t live in such god forsaken place.” How ironic ? That the island Rainsford gets stuck on literally has psychopath that kills people.
- Resolution
- Rainsford wants to leave the island after he was informed that the hunting on that island was actually murdering people. But , the general won’t let him leave that easily , so Rainsford has to play 1 on 1 with and he has to make sure he doesn’t get killed by the general. “ Your brain against mine. Your woodcraft against mine. Your strength and stamina against mine, Outdoor chess!”
- “Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. Rainsford hesitated. He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea.”The climax is Rainsford jumping off the cliff because if he hadn’t he would have been killed by the hounds so Rainsford makes a great choice and he won
- Rainsford beats the general at his own game and now because he won he gets to sleep in a nice bed and the general gets to die. A quote that describes this is “ The general made one of his deepest bows. I see, he said . Splendid! One of us is to furnish a respast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard Rainsford .”
