In 1959, The Soviet Union took another step in the space race and sent Yuri Gagarin to orbit Earth. He traveled in a capsule-like spacecraft. The route went in an eight like path that went around the earth, in-between the earth and moon, then around the moon. Yuri became the First man in space for 108 minutes orbiting the earth.
