- Knowing this, Messalina’s parents introduced her to a Roman prince, and Messalina was extremely unhappy. She saw how perfect he was, but to her, he was nothing compared to Felix, and she didn't want to get married
- The king and queen were arranging for Messalina’s marriage, even though she constantly told them she didn’t want to get married. Messalina’s parents ignored her and told her that in the upcoming year, when she would turn fourteen, she would get married
- Messalina didn’t want to get married, but unfortunately, she knew she’d be forced to. This news was extremely upsetting to Felix, and that’s why, around the end of the summer, Messalina and Felix met many times per week. Messalina knew that if her parents found out about this, they would kill Felix with no remorse, but she didn’t care, and neither did Felix. All they wanted was to spend every moment of every day together, and even though they couldn’t, they tried their absolute best to
- Messalina’s constant disappearance worried her mother. Messalina would always tell her mother that she was taking a walk in the village, but her mother didn’t believe her, so she sent someone to spy on Messalina to make sure she wasn’t lying
- The next day, the spy came to the castle before Messalina and told her parents that she was meeting someone in the bushes behind the castle. Messalina’s mother suspected that it was Felix, but she wasn’t sure, so she went to check it out herself, and she saw that it was Felix, so she ran inside to get a crossbow, but Messalina said she heard a noise and she told Felix to leave
- As soon as Messalina left the bushes to return to the castle, she found her mother pointing the crossbow to her heart
