Kamden Smith Fever 1793

Storyboard Description

Fever 1793 is a book about a girl who survived the Fever epidemic of 1793. My favorite part of Fever 1793 is when the robbers broke in and Grandfather died. First, they had to go back to Philadelphia from Bush Hill. They went to the coffeehouse. When they got there, the coffeehouse was destroyed. Mattie and Grandfather worked to clean it up and survive on very little food. Later in the week, Mattie was so tired that she slept in the front room. Robbers broke into the coffeehouse. Mattie tried to hide, but they caught her and woke Grandfather. A robber beat Grandfather after he shot at him. Mattie then cut one of the robbers and chased him away. Grandfather died because of all the shock of the attack. This part is important to the story because it shows that people in Philadelphia were desperate. After all, there was no food and people were trying to survive. Mattie is now alone, left to fend for herself.
