- In my last basketball tournament, in the semi final game, as the protagonist, I was the lead scorer with 24 points, 12 of them 3 point baskets. This game was intense and the other team ended up feeling intimidated by our team. There was conflict between my team and the other team from the beginning. One of my teammates and a player from the other team were getting in each others faces and the other players expression showed how frustrated he was. My teammate got in the other players head which caused him to get mad and draw the technical foul, which allowed us to shoot two free throws and get the ball back. Our player is always talking and trying to get in other players heads, this is a weird idiosyncrasy of his attempt to win the game. It does not work the majority of the time, it mainly gets fouls called on our team. This time it worked for our team. Our coach called a timeout and I was able to talk with our team and articulate the need to remove all external distractions. Our team’s internal strength would overcome the antagonist from winning this game. After getting the ball back, we scored once again and then we were down 14. Both of the teams coach’s were yelling at the referees for not calling fouls. Once the refs started calling fouls, and I started to make my shots, my team was able to come back within two points. We were able to get the ball back with ten seconds left and we were able to get a game winning three. The coach’s and the players from the other team had a transfix look as the ball went into the net. We had won the game!
