  • THE SPORTS OUTLET
  • SUMMER SALE 50% OFF
  • Look Juan, The Sports Outlet is having a summer sale, let's see if they have what you're looking for
  • Let's ask an employee if he knows where the shorts are
  • I just want something to play in
  • 50% OFF
  • 50% OFF
  • Looking for shorts? Nike shorts are the perfect shorts for sports, aesthetics, and comfort, also they are currently 50% off
  • SHORTS 50% OFF
  • I say the best choices are between the Nike Fleece Shorts and the Nike Dri-fit training shorts
  • Here we have the Nike Fleece Shorts (gray), a pair of normal shorts designed for comfort yet considered stylish, could be worn for outdoor activities and made up of 80% cotton and 20% polyester. Then we have the Nike Dri-Fit training shorts (black), Shorts designed specifically for training and activewear also designed to be more thinner or “true to fit” to satisfy athletic performance and is made up of 100% polyester
  • 80% Cotton20% Polyester
  • 100% Polyester
  • Cotton is great for warm weather apparel, and overall active wear
  • Excellent absorbency as it is hydrophilic, absorbs moisture readily, with 8.5 moisture regain, due to attraction of water to -OH groupsHowever because cotton is hydrophilic it can feel uncomfortable in cold, damp conditions- wet/clammy
  • Has poor resistance, wrinkles easily, related to the H-bonds breaking and reforming in new position especially in presence of moisture
  • Has moderate strength 3-5g/den when dry and is stronger when wet with 3.3-6.4 g/den, related to high level of crystallinity and many H-bonds
  • Does not tend to pill when abraded, cotton fibres pull out of the fabric structure or are broken off rather than forming pills
  • Moderate abrasion resistance, and better resistance in heavy fabric than thinner fabrics
  • Is soft to the touch, related and surface does not irritate skin
  • Also resistant to chemicals, such as dry cleaning solvents, acids, and bases
  • Polyester is best designed for active wear and sports wear
  • Polyester is hydrophobic, no polar regions in fibre to attract water, and has a moisture regain of 0.4-0.8% and is a static prone, however it will dry more quickly than wool or cotton
  • It has a high strength, however strength is not altered when wet, due to highly crystalline polymer system effective intermolecular forces between electrons of benzene rings
  • Excellent resiliency, does not wrinkle in use also pills do not tend to break off due to high tenacity of fibres and overall good dimensional stability, doesn't shrink if properly heat set
  • Also increased insulation can be achieved by altering fibre physical properties to trap air, throughout staple fibre (fibre length)
  • Also has a low density
  • It has a high abrasion resistance and is also resistant to sunlight
  • front
  • weft knit structure
  • back
  • single jersey fabric
  • Elongation and elastic recovery for cotton
  • Cotton has poor elongation and elongates very little under force, H-bonded, and highly crystalline systemCotton has a poor elastic recovery along with resistance, this relates to the H-bond breaking and reforming in new positions
  • Front
  • Weft Knit structure
  • Interlock
  • Back
  • Elongation and elastic recovery for polyester
  • Stored elastic energy for polyester is higher than that in cotton. This elastic energy assists in regaining the original shape. With reduction in component, a fall in the stored elastic energy causes reduction in immediate elastic recoveryPolyester has an elongation over 50%, compared to cotton ranging between 4-8%
  • Now lets consider both shorts with certain scenarios too, sunny and warm days, with cold and rainy days
  • VS
  • Great choice for sports
  • I'll take the Nike Dri-fit training shorts (100% polyester)
  • Thanks for helping me pick out my shorts mom! They really made a difference
