Wow this essay is fascinating! I wonder what if was like during the 1600's when Locke wrote this? Oh and whose that Hobbes guy?
It is 1689 and John Locke is coming up with the idea that everyone has natural rights to life, liberty, and property. This would be called Two Treatises of Government.

Rulers must protect all three of the rights.
However, almost 40 years earlier in 1651, Thomas Hobbes came up with the social contract theory. The idea was that everyone 's safety and security were ensured.

Oh yes, and of course deism may apply!
People must significantly rely on a contract.
Everyone is born with NATURAL RIGHTS!
Hobbes and Locke both had very different ideas for the social contract.
People can be remarkably selfish, this is why we need ABSOLUTE POWER!
Similarly Locke and Hobbes had also disagreed on the law of nature using rationalism to come up with their new ideas.
It must be the state of nature where no one is in danger. Mankind is to be conserved.
Locke has no real idea as to what he is talking about. I mean of course it is the state of war!
Though they talk of disagreement they eventually realized that they were speaking of the same idea, just in different words. Men must be in pursuit of peace.
