- Scene 1
- Banquo has hurt both of you and he threatens my throne so you must kill him.
- This scene is important because it shows Macbeth's paranoia caused by the witches. It also shows again how far he will go to hold on to his position as king.
- Yes King he has, we will kill him and his tonight
- Scene 2
- You seem surprised at my words, but don't question me yet.
- This scene is used to showcase how Macbeth has grown more ruthless and how he has even surprised his wife with his un moral tactics. She follows along though because she wants this just as much as he does.
- Scene 3
- This is important because it shows how Fleance got away which protects the witches promise that Banquo's heirs would be kings.
- Oh, this is treachery! Get out of here, goodFleance, run, run, run! Someday you can getrevenge.—Oh, you bastard!
- Then let the rain come down
- Scene 4
- 4. (to the GHOST) You can’t say I did it. Don’t shakeyour bloody head at me.
- 2.Which one of you did this?
- This shows Macbeth's hillucinations as he can't deal or process the amount of guilt he feels.
- 1. Here, mygood lord. What’s wrong, your highness?
- 3.What, my good lord?
- Scene 5
- Macbeth will go there to learn his destiny. Youbring your cauldrons, your spells, your charms,and everything else. I’m about to fly away. I’llspend tonight working to make something horrible happem.
- This is important because it shows how truly evil the witches are as they are simply trying to start trouble and trick Macbeth.
- Scene 6
- Such a heinous crime—how itsaddened Macbeth! Wasn’t it loyal of him to killthose two servants right away, while they werestill drunk and asleep?
- This is important because it shows how Lennox and the others start to suspect Macbeth
