  • Our company has been doing fantastic with this quarter revenue! almost 10 million in profit
  • We should send it overseas half of it to avoid taxes! that way most of the profit stays with us and I can buy my new yacht!
  • I make 15 dollars an hour which is about 26k per year or 2,218 per month after taxes. It is not much since I live in Florida and rent prices has increased a lot, they are about 1,500 per month and you have to make 3 times the rent in most places they ask for that, so I rent a bedroom which is about 750 a month. This takes a toll in me since after a degree and everything I do not make enough, and I cannot even afford therapy to take care of my mental health.
  • GIVE US A RAISE!!!GIVE US GOOD BENEFITS!!!15 DOLLARS AN HOUR IS NOT ENOUGH!!
  • Wait why is 15 dollars an hour not enough?? and is 10 days off per year not enough?? just work harder!
  • Frederic and Matthew talk about their company; their company makes 10 million in profit per year which puts them basically in the top 1%. Matthew purposes a way to avoid taxes, which is a common practice that millionaire and billionaires use in order to pay as little money possible in taxes and to use the extra money into their company or for their own pleasure (most of the time)
  • My first job paid me 10 dollars an hour, I could not even afford rent and I did what everyone told me to, go to college and get a good paying job. However, I still did not make it. Also, in my first job I lost my health insurance because I could not afford it, but I still made above the poverty line, so the government did not give me a safety net it was really harsh for 2 years to live like that.
  • Sydney explains the negative effects of wealth inequality, how even with a degree and experience she cannot make enough to live comfortably in her state. She also states how frustrating it is and how it takes a toll in her mental health, but she cannot afford therapy because the copay is 50 dollars after insurance which is a lot of money for her. It is also important to emphasize that it has been demonstrated that wealth inequality takes a huge mental toll in the low income and middle class.
  • This is my son Andrew, I had him when I was 18, he is extremely smart and a good kid but unfortunately his school does not provide a good education system.... and he doesn't learn much at school. I'm worried his daughter/son will have to go through the same as me and him if I can't afford college for him
  • My dream is to go to Georgetown and to become a lawyer but... I know my dad cannot afford it and I don't want to drown in debt, I want to be able to afford to study in a good place it discourages me that I do not have the privilege of getting a good education.
  • Sydney, Marcus and Ryan are demanding a better pay and better benefits since they been in the company for about 5 years and the three of them are experts at their job, however what they make per hour is not enough for the state they live in, and Matthew doesn't understand that since he makes 181% more of what an average American makes which is about 55k for men and 46k for women.
  • You had access to a private middle school, high school and university. Also, you graduated without debt since your grandfather had an account just for your university expenses, which is something most of us do not have. Also, you had the best teachers and lived in a really safe neighborhood. Another big factor is that your grandfather should you how to build a company from scratch as well as your father. which is something that most of the middle- and low-income class do not have.
  • I didn't realize I had that much privilege and how those small factors influenced on me having so much success, thanks!
  • Ryan talks about he has experienced substance abuse because one time he went homeless because even by working a job 40 hours a week he did not made enough money to rent a bedroom and he also lost his health insurance because he did not make enough to afford it but did make more than the "poverty line" so he did not have any help from the government.
  • Marcus is a father of one kid, and he explains one of the effects that he experiences that is really common when it comes to wealth inequality which is lack of education for his children, since he lives in a low-income neighborhood the school that his kid attends to is an underfunded school which keeps the cycle going.
  • Sydney explains to Matthew why he got so much wealth and why such inequality exists in the world, also she tries to explain how much privilege he had while growing up which explains in a good part why he is in the position he is today.
