- World war 2 started in September 1939 when Nazi Party leader, Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland. The US tried staying out of the war but eventually, America got attacked by one of the axis powers, japan. Japan bombed pearl harbor and killed millions. After this even the US got involved in the war as a apart of the allies.
- Vietnam War
- The cold war began right after WW2 had been resolved, the war went on from 1945-1948. Even though there was no real war it was still scary for the American people, Constantly in fear of nuclear attacks and the spread of communism from the soviet union.

- why would they lock up a us embassy?
- After the bay of pigs invasion (which failed), Cuba's leader, Castro, decided to get closer with the soviet union. Since they got so close the soviets decided to send nuclear war heads to Cuba so they can be fired at the US. The us got involved because they wanted to stop the soviet union from placing nuclear bombs in Cuba
- 9/11
- The Vietnam war started because, North Vietnam wanted to take over south Vietnam into being a communist country. The south did not want this so they decided to fight back. The US got involved because they wanted to stop the spread of communism and were afraid that Southeast Asia would also be turned communist.

- The Iran Hostage Crisis started when Iranian protesters decided to seize a staff of a US Embassy. When the US found out they sent troops to try and save the innocent man from being held hostage 
- On September 11 2001 Al-Qaeda terrorist's hijacked American planes and crashed them into American monuments including, the twin towers, World trade center, the pentagon and apparently the white house. After this tragic event the US decided to invade Afghanistan when Taliban refused to give the US al-Qaeda leaders who planed the event
