- After a long struggle, the Socs finally begin to leave the fight, making the Greasers the winners. They all celebrated happily, but Dally told Ponyboy Johnny wanted to see him and that he is in a bad condition

- On their way to the hospital, Dally and Ponyboy are stopped by a police officer for speeding too much. Dallas, to avoid major problems, lied that it was because Pony got hurt
- The kid fell over on his motorcycle, we are going to the hospital officer
- Is he that bad? Please tell me if you need an escort, I might help
- Pony and Dallas arrive at the hospital, Ponyboy tells Johnny they have won. But, after hearing the good news, he tells them that fighting is no good. Johnny was in critical condition, and right before he dies he told Ponybold wise words.
