  • The Duke Orsino has fallen madly in love with Lady Olivia but after her brothers death she writes Orsino a message saying how she can never love him and is going to mourn for seven years in ‘sad remembrance’ of her brother
  • “If music be the food of love, play on. Give me excess of it that, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die”

  • “And what should I do in Illyria? My brother her is in Elysium . Perchance he isn’t drown’d- what think you sailors?”
  • While traveling, Viola and her bother get into a tragic ship wreck, leaving her to believe Sebastian (her brother) has drowned. As Viola washes ashore in Illyria with the remaining ship crew, the ships captain agrees to help disguise Viola as a boy in order get a job with the governor of Illyria, Duke Orsino

  • Lady Olivias Uncle, Sir Toby Belch and her maid Maria, are arguing that her mistress is tired of his ‘quaffing and drinking’ and was not the slightest impressed with his friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek who he introduced to Olivia to woo her. After Sir Toby convinces Sir Andrew that Olivia might marry him, the two of them go off to spend their time drinking and dancing.
