Storyboard Text

  • The boat is sailing as Robert Walton communicates his honest thoughts while writing his letter. “You will rejoice to hear that no disaster has accompanied the commencement of an enterprise which you have regarded with such evil forebodings” (Frankenstein 1).
  • As Robert comes up from below deck, one of his men physically grabs him to the side of the boat and presents him to modern Victor Frankenstein. “Here is our captain, and he will not allow you to perish on the open sea” (Frankenstein 15). At this point, modern Victor asks where they are going as he considers joining them on their voyage.
  • Victor lies in front of the fire and greets Robert as he enters. Robert sits on a chair as victor prepares to speak with him. With sorrow in his eyes, he opens his mouth and begins to explain the tail of the monster he created.
  • Victor, in his younger years, when he first saw Elizabeth and was told she was his gift, confidently says, “I, with childish seriousness, interpreted her words literally and looked upon Elizabeth as mine” (Frankenstein 30).
  • Victor, in university, contemplates his professor speaking about all the great scientists before him. He then looks at the ground and says, “more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked (Frankenstein 46).
  • Modern Victor's voice comes in as the university Victor brings the monster to life, “as I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart” (Frankenstein 59). Victor runs away out of fear and disgust of what he created.
