Guys! Jackson is standing there like a stone wall!
The battle of Antietam took place in September of 1862. The fight was between General lees troops (the confederacy) and General McClellan's troops (the union). The confederacy wanted a southern victory on northern soil so they would be a great blow to northern morale. Things soon went downhill for the confederacy because the union found a blueprint of their plan. Although McClellan had their plan he was still slow to act. His troops headed to the creek of Antietam where the confederacy set up troops, to fight. No one was really a winner in this battle but since Lee withdrew the union was able to claim victory
Everyone say on guard! McClellan and his troops are finally making moves.

In early 1863, Grant and his troops tried many times to seize Vicksburg but failed. Grant soon came up with a foolproof plan. He planned to land at an unguarded spot on the river, march inland eastward and launch a surprise attack, and that's what he did. After his surprise attack, he turned back to attack from the rear because that was the side that had no physical barriers protecting it. Grant and his troops laid siege onto Vicksburg for over 6 weeks, until the confederates finally surrendered Vicksburg. Soon after the union's great success at Vicksburg, they went onto capture many more confederate bases.
