- Dally hit ponyboy after he fell asleep in the lot and was late for curfew. After Dally hit him ponyboy ran away and he woke up Johnny in the lot. Dally felt bad for hitting him. But Ponyboy and Johnny ran away from home before Dally could find them. Page 50-51
- Person vs Nature
- "' Get Out!'"
- Ponyboy ran away from home with Johnny after Dally hit him in the face. Dally hit Ponyboy in the face after he fell asleep in a parking lot and when he got home Darry hit him for being late. He ran away with Johnny and went to a church. Page 50
- Ponyboy's English teacher talked to him about his grade because he was doing bad. Ponyboy knew that he could of been doing better and the teacher knows it to. Ponyboy was doing bad in the class and he had a C. Ponyboy has a hard time using his head and slowing down and not rushing. Page 144

- Ponyboy and Johnny try to safe kids that got into the church that they were sleeping in. Johnny, Dally, and Ponyboy came back from eating and see that the church was on fire and kids were in there. Johnny and Ponyboy get into the church and get all of the kids out before Johnny get hit with a beam and Ponyboy passes out. They were both taken to the hospital and Ponyboy woke up in the emergency truck. Page 92
