Storyboard Text

  • The North could transport goods and resources easily to soldiers with their wide range of railroads. The North also on paper, had a bigger army since more people lived there but the military commanders did not want to use a lot of them since they did not want their men to die for no reason.
  • NORTH

  • The South could mass produce food because its large amount of plantations but they could not transport it to their soldiers because of their lack of railroads and transportation methods. Although they lacked this, they had very strong military commanders which undermined the Norths strategy and made the Souths army equal to the North.
  • SOUTH
  • The North manufactured 97 percent of the countries firearms and had a huge industrial advantage over the South considering there was not even one rifleworks in the entire South. The North also manufactured 90 percent of armor specifically boots and shoes for their army.
  • NORTH

  • By the end of the war, the South was able to build a lot of gunpowder mills and also melted thousands of church and plantation bells to make cannons that they used against the North. They also built many armories and foundries in different states in the region.
  • SOUTH
  • The North was unfamiliar with the Souths landscape and territory which was a great disadvantage. The North also had to invade and try to conquer the South which was difficult since they were on the attacking side which made their political and military objectives much harder.
  • NORTH

  • Since the South was fighting in their own territory they had a huge advantage because they were familiar with the landscape. The South also had an advantage because they were playing the defensive side and they had the upper hand to harass Northern invaders.
