  • Thomas Edison was the so called "Inventor of the light bulb." When he actually just took credit for the invention when the real inventor was a African-American man named Lewis Laitmer.
  • The inventors of the airplane were the wright brothers and they were no taken seriously until the French tried taking their idea. fun fact: the brothers only flew together once on the airplane because of their father who feared that he would lose both of his sons.
  • The biggest invention made from the 1870s to the 1900 was the light bulb, the telephone, and the airplane
  • The inventor of the telophone was given credit to Alexander Graham Bell.
  • Westward expansion had a negative impact on the Native Americans for many reasons but probably the biggest reason was white man trying to claim their land and the government not being loyal. many settlers moved onto the Native American's land, which had started a war. The government tried to gain control of the situation by starting a large number treaties with the Indians. Many of the treaties had formed reservations for Native Americans to have massive areas of land for only their. The sad part is that these treaties would be broken by the U.S government
  • One of the reservations included all of western South Dakota. This land was reserved by a strong Indian tribe called, the Sioux. A few years after the Great Sioux Reservation was settled gold was discovered in the Black Hills of Dakota. The United States government wanted to buy the land, but the Sioux, wasn't interested in selling. So government sent soldiers to take it by force. Lieutenant Colonel George Custer and his soldiers attacked the Sioux at Little Big Horn River. During the Battle of Little Big Horn the Lieutenant and his men were ambushed and slaughtered by Sioux warriors.
