- Mathlide always dreamed of living in a huge home. She also dreamed of having nice jewelry and dresses. Unfortunately all of this was just a dream.
- Climax
- What! impossible!
- Mathilde and her husband got an invitation from the Loisel but Mathilde complains about not having anything to wear. Mathilde gets mad at her husband for not having a good enough dress.
- Falling Action
- Mathilde goes to ask her friend Madame Forestier for some jewelry that she could where. Mathilde look through all of Madame Forestier's jewelery and found a diamond necklace.
- Resolution
- Well the necklace gave to you was a fake one so I've been working to pay it off
- Oh dear, what happened to you? You look so old and tired
- Mathilde and her husband were about to leave the castle when Mathilde felt around her neck and realized she lost the necklace. She and her husband freak out trying to think of a way to get it back but it's no use.
- The...The.. necklace it's gone!
- To be able to pay Madame Forestier back she had to fire the maid and become the maid. She had to wash the clothes, wash the dishes, sweep the floor, and go grocery shopping.
- Madame Forestier and Mathilde run into each other while out. Madame told Mathilde that she looked very old and worn out. Mathilde told Madame that she has been working to get 4,000 francs to pay off the necklace. Madame finally told Mathilde that the necklace only cost 500 francs instead of 40,000.
