  • Among the causes isthe financial crisis and the collapse of the oil price, the recession due tothe bank holiday, the depreciation of the sucre and the inflation that came toincrease up to 96%.
  • This produced both socialand economic consequences, the separation of families, the bankruptcy ofcompanies, unemployment, increased poverty, the economy was dollarized, thecurrency was lost, the economic losses amounted to 6,000 million dollars.
