- Haden Edwards lead the Fredonian Rebellion. This was the first attempt by Anglo settlers to escape from Mexico. They declared independence from Mexican Texas and created the Republic of Fredonia.
- Arrest of Austin
- Mier y Teran was travelling around Texas, and found that people weren't following the law(s) they promised to. He then told the Mexican government.
- Battle of Gonzales

- Due to Mier y Teran's report, the Mexican government banned Texas immigration and made it illegal to bring slaves to Texas. This law also prevented empressarios from bringing people into Texas.
- Battle of the Alamo

- Stephen F. Austin was arrested after he wrote a letter telling the colonists to create a side government. He was held in prison for 2.5 years, and then was executed for treason.
- On October 2, 1835, the growing tensions between Mexico and Texas finally turn violent when Mexican soldiers attempt to disarm people in Gonzales, starting the Texan war for independence. After a short fight (about two days), the Mexicans retreated and Texas kept their cannon.
- The battle of the Alamo started on February 23, 1836, and ended on March 8, 1836. It all started with Santa Anna raising a red flag on top of the San Fernando Church, trying to say that no more prisoners would be taken.Colonel William fires back a cannon in response. It took place at a fort in San Antonio, Texas called it the Alamo. The Mexicans (Santa Anna's army) won the battle, killing all Texans inside the fort.
