Emma realises that James has been skipping school for the last week and not participating in his usual activities that he finds enjoyment in. When your finding it hard to maintain personal hygiene, not completing tasks, not attending school, withdrawing from friends and family, not finding enjoyment in activities you normally like doing and being unable to concentrate are signs of a person with depression and if these symptoms persist you should ask someone if they are feeling ok and if they aren't talk to them and provide them with resources that can help such as Kids Help Line, Beyond Blue and other mental health resources.
Where is James he hasn't been at school lately I wonder if he is ok?
Emma calls James on the phone and asks him “are you feeling ok I’m always here to help you” she asks this question as he hasn't been talking to his friends, looking after his hygiene, eating for dopamine, not finding enjoyment in his hobbies and attending school. James opens up and expresses his feelings “I actually haven't been ok and I've been depressed lately, thank you for helping me out.” Emma goes on to give James resources to help him with his mental health.
Hey James you seem like you have been unlike yourself lately do you need any help if you do you can talk to me of call kids help line
Thank you for the help it really means a lot to me and thank you for those resources I will make sure to call them later.
James and Emma become friends and help each other with their mental health challenges. James starts eating junk food less and starts enjoying his hobbies and expressing himself as he now finds enjoyment in things he used to like. The mental resources helped James out of his depression and now he enjoys his hobbies, takes care of his hygiene, spends time with his family and friends, eats a better diet and attends school everyday.
Thank you for the support it really helped me a lot.
