Storyboard Text

  • Once, there was no universe, only a vast ocean on the brink of night. Floating on the waters, was the giant serpent, Shesha. Asleep in the snake's coils, was Vishnu.
  • As dawn came, Vishnu awoke. A mysterious noise pervaded the silence. A lotus blossom sprouted from Vishnu's naval, and sitting aloft it was Brahma, Vishnu's servant. Vishnu instructed, "It is time to begin. Create the world."
  • Vishnu and Shesha vanished. Brahma divided the lotus blossom into three pieces: the heavens, the sky, and the earth. But because the world was bare, he created animals.
  • A demon stole the earth and hurled it into the darkest reaches of the cosmic ocean. Vishnu swiftly killed the demon, and returned the world to the care of Brahma.
  • This time the world was saved, but there will come a time when the lord Shiva, the destroyer, will become displeased with the world's evil. He shall dance the dance of death, and once again, there will be no universe, only an ocean on the brink of night.
