  • What exactly is the YCJA and what it do?
  • The Youth Criminal Justice Act affects teens all across Canada. It makes sure that Canada's young offenders get a fair and just punishment for their actions.
  • Everybody makes mistakes and there have been unfair sentences given out in the past. However, The YCJA is constantly making adjustments with how they deal youth in Canada.
  • Thats so cool! Has the YCJA always given out fair punishements?
  • The YCJA has been accused of many things in the past. This includes issues like overuse of the court systems and not enough recognition for the victims to the crimes youth commit.
  • Most young offenders are only first time and learn their lesson. Therefore never coming into the court again. For multiple time offenders, the YCJA is more harsh and not scared to give them a much larger sentence then their last. Also with other crimes like theft and property damage, the youth is completely responsible for the damage they had caused so that issue has also been resolved.
  • I think I get it now! Though the YCJA is not perfect, they always find a way to protect Youths' rights and freedoms!
