- Uncle Jimmy shows up at their apartment building to take them to the bodega. On the way, Julie and Alex are confused and unsure of whats happening. Julie and Alex are taken to the bodega for supplies and Bri stays incase Mami or Papi calls while they are gone.
- Chapter 10
- Chris gives Alex his father's card in case he ever needs anything because he knows things are only gonna get worse. Although Alex reassures him he does not need help he takes the card anyways. Chris knows his dad would help them because Alex always gave Chris competition.
- Chapter 14
- Alex demands to talk to Bri after they received their letter for when to talk to her. Alex and Julie are finally able to call her. Bri talks about her work on the farm and is happy she was able to call them.
- Chapter 19
- Alex asks the priest if there is anywhere he could send Julie. He knows that Bri is safe at the farm where she is staying and wants somewhere safe for Julie. He is not able to find anywhere for her because she is so young.
- At their church, everyone left in New York gathers to have thanksgiving together. Although they are missing some normal thanksgiving food they are thankful for the chance to do something fun. Alex is glad him and Julie are able to eat.
- Bri is found dead in the elevator. After she writes a note in their old house to Mami and Papi in case they ever return once they leave. Alex and Julie are so sad but know that Bti would want them to move on and help themselves.
