- Well Sarah, Confirmation is the outpouring of the holy spirit on a baptized person, strengthening the grace given by the holy spirit. In simple terms its fully completing the sacrament of baptism.
- Wait Father Larry I have a few questions about the sacrament! What does Confirmation even celebrate?
- Confirmation class has ended, go in peace glorified Lord
- Laying of the hands happens during the confirmation night, this act is the ancient practice of conferring power from the sponsor to the recipient. Anointing with chrism will also happen and doing this will allow you to be christ for others.
- Ok that makes so much more sense now. I was also wondering what some of the symbols and rituals are of confirmation?
- When you were baptized as a baby, you were not able to fully understand the process of becoming-part of Jesus' community, the church. But when you get confirmed it is your chance to fully commit yourself whole to God as the person you want to become in your faith journey.
- Thank you Father Larry for helping me clarify any of my question. Now I feel very prepared to have my sacrament of confirmation.
