  • George Washington's Quarters
  • Soldiers Quarters
  • He selected Valley Forge to stay for the winter because it was only 20 miles from Philadelphia and they were on high ground. It also provided a launching point for soldiers in the winter campaign. THey also were right next to a river which helped them a lot.
  • Problems Faced by the Soldiers #1
  • George Washington added to windows to each house so they could protect the houses. They made 2,000 log huts with lumber from the trees.
  • Problems Faced by the Soldiers #2
  • The soldiers started making houses out of lumber and they made them for everyone. They had there own food in all of there huts.
  • Training with Baron Fredrick von Steuben
  • They had a clothing shortage and they did not have a lot of food. They could not find the food.
  • They struggled with not being sick. Almost everyone had a disease at one point and some of them died but some stayed alive.
  • He made a group of a hundred men that did a drill maneuver that only made them use their arms. He educated them on the basics of soldiering.
