- What is a government?
- Governments are an organization people set up to protect the community and people. They:keep ordermake lawsprovide public servicesprotect the community
- Limited and Unlimited
- Limited Government:the government is restricted on what it can do typically by a constitution
- Unlimited Government:the government gives all the power to the leader and officials
- Democracy and Monarchy
- Democracy:-elected by the government-determined through an election or elected officials-Direct Democracy's people vote directly on every issue-Representative Democracy's people are represented by elected officials
- Monarchy:-the king, queen, emperor, empress hold the power-position is passed down to the heir-Absolute Monarchy's hold all the power -Constitutional Monarchy's have elected governments that limit the control of the rulers
- Dictatorship and Theocracy
- Theocracy:-government leaders are identical with those of the main religion-claims to rule on behalf a god or a higher power-rules and policies are strongly influenced by the major religion
- Dictatorship:-ruled by a single leader-leader is not elected and may use force to keep in control-Military Dictatorship's are when the military is in control-In Totalitarian State the people lack basic fundamental rights and have almost every aspect of their life controlled by the government
