  • hurricanes often do not make landfall in Canada, but turn away beforehand. The remnants then cause gusts of wind and rain on land. The most affected regions are Newfoundland (St. John)
  • St. John is highly prone to hurricanes and storms!
  • St. John's, a city on Newfoundland island off Canada's Atlantic coast. Its harbour was settled by the British in the 1600s
  • its wind belt also helps forming its natural climate.its pretty foggy at St.John because t's a matter of a hot, humid air mass meeting with the cooler temperatures of the Bay. The air mass then becomes oversaturated and results in heavy fog banks. As our world-famous tides roll in, they also bring more fog to shore with them according to Cote.
  • St. John Canada has rocky mountains so mountain barriers help in the climate change
  • When air reaches a mountain, it is forced to lift and rise over the barrier. The further up the mountain the colder the temperature. Then, when the air travels back down the mountain it gets warmer and drier, because the moisture in the air dried out during the rise up the mountain.
