Chapter 7

Chapter 8

Jem, Scout and Dill try to look through the window of the Radley place but get shot at by Nathan Radley. They escape but Jem loses his pants. They say it was through strip poker. Jem goes back for his pants to avoid trouble with Atticus.
Chapter 9
Important Quote: “You just hold your head high and keep your fists down… try fighting with your head for a change”.
Jem tells Scout that when he went back for his pants they had been folded over the fence and sewn up. They find more presents in the knot-hole and write a thank you letter to the sender but the knot-hole is filled with cement.
Chapter 10
It was winter in Maycomb and there was the first snow in years. On the coldest night, there was a fire at Miss Maudie's house and all the neighbours were on the street. Scout was freezing and Boo Radley secretly covered her with a blanket.
Atticus is defending a black man which causes trouble for Scout at school. It is Christmas and Uncle Jack comes over and they go to Aunt Alexandra's. There, Scout punches Francis (her cousin) for calling Atticus a n***** lover
Scout thinks that Atticus is too old to do anything and thinks other fathers are better. There is a mad dog in the street and everyone locks their doors. Atticus kills it in one shot. Scout and Jem are proud of Atticus for different reasons
Important Quote: Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.
