- Benvolio and Mercutio plan to go to a Capulet ball but Romeo insists for them to go without him. Romeo is still sad because of Rosaline. Mercutio tries to convince him otherwise.

- Benvolio
- Mercutio tries to tell Romeo by not going out and trying to find new love interests they are wasting their youth. Romeo’s other reason for not wanting to go is that he had a dream. Benvolio don't believe this is a valid excuse though.
- My Dream told me that dreamers often lie
- Mercutio continues to talk about the tales of Queen Mab. Romeo interrupts the tales saying Mercutio is speaking nonsense. Mercutio agrees and explains that was his main point that dreams are just nonsense

- Regardless of what Mercutio says Romeo still has a bad feeling about this party. He believes it is the start of something bad. Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio get ready to go to the party.
