- In the beginning, Ofelia and her mother are on their way to meet her step father and live over there. Ofelia doesn't like her step father. Captain Vidal tells Ofelia's mother to be in a wheeling chair because she's pregnant.
- Ofelia later goes to follow where the fairy was going and ends up meeting this weird creature called the faun. The faun talks to Ofelia saying she returned. Eventually the faun gives Ofelia a book she can read where no one is around and she must do what the books says.
- Ofelia's mother eventually dies while giving birth to her son. Ofelia was really sad that she lost her mother because she didn't like her step father.
- Mercedes finds out that Captain Vidal hit Ofelia and she tells Captain Vidal that he shouldn't do anything to Ofelia. Mercedes then fights for herself because Captain Vidal was treating her bad.
- In the end, Ofelia dies and she is in like a dream where she finally meets her parents. She was happy to see her father and mother again.
