Storyboard Text

  • Expostion
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Ahh!
  • The narrator of the story says, "I heard all things in the heaven and in the earth. I heard many things in hell. How, then, am I mad." He says this because he is trying to prove that he is not crazy or mad. He loves the old man, but just does not like his eye. He says that it follows him around and make his blood run cold. He decided that he must get rid of the eye.
  • Falling Action
  • For seven nights at about 12 o´clock the narator would sneak into the old man´s room and shine a light on the old man's eye. He did this to hopfully find his eye open to get rid of it. On the eighth night he acxidently woke up the old man up and the text then says, "For one whole hour I did not move a muscle." He did this because he did not want the old man to see him. He was also waiting for the old man to go back to sleep.
  • Resolution
  • The narator waited a whole hour untill the old man went back to bed. When the old man went back to bed the narrator leaped into the room and, "dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him." when he heard the old man stop breathing he to his body into the bathroom and took off the old mans limps and throw it all under the planks of the house.
  • Unreliable Narrator
  • Next the narrator heard a knock at the door and their were two cops saying that they were their to search the house because a neighbor said that they heard a scream. The narrator showed them the whole house then started talking to them. Then in the text it says, ¨My head ached, I felt myself getting pale and wished hem gone." then it says ¨I fancied a ringing in my ears.¨showing that he thought he was hearing the heart of the old man beating.
  • The narrator could not take the beating inside his head anymore so he came unglued and said, ¨dissemble me no more! I admit the deed!- tear up the planks!-here, here!- it is the beating oh his hideous heart!" Showing that he told the cops he killed the old man.
  • The part I think is unreliable is in the very beginning when the narrator says, ¨I loved the old man." then says ¨I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever.¨ I think this is unreliable of the narrator because he says that he loves this old man, but is taking the life of this man because he does not like his eye.
