The primary goal of the PAY Project is to decrease youth unemployment by providing the PAY interns with work experience in the Public Service (PS). The project aims to assist youth in overcoming the barriers that prevent them from finding jobs in the PS.
The project is aimed at matriculants who are not able to study further, who are unemployed, who have no network or support to help them make career choices and who are financially constrained.
The purpose of this four-day learning programme is to create an understanding of the work environment that the PAY interns will enter. This learning programme will focus on soft-skill areas such as self-awareness, personal presentation and diversity. An understanding of the Western Cape Government among the PAY interns so that they can function optimally within a PS work environment, will also be created.
