Siddhartha Gotama,known as Buddha, was born around 567 B.C in Nepal, then known as Lumbini. He was born into a wealthy family and was destined for greatness. His father had high hopes for him to become king.
Buddha continued to travel through india to teach people his wisdoms and he lived until he was 80 years old. He did not see himself as a god but a teacher. He wanted others to achieve peace and enlightenment through meditation.
Siddartha began meditating and teaching others his new found wisdoms. After 49 days of meditation, it said that he found enlightenment whilst sitting under the Bodhi Tree and then was known as The Buddha.
When Siddhartha did venture out alone, he saw the the poor and suffering and did not like his lavish life. Age 30 he left his wife and child to become a monk
Buddha was protected from the outside world and guards would clear the streets if he ventured out as not to see the poor and sad.
At 19, Buddha found love after an archery contest. Yashodhara was his first and last love who he married and had a child with. His time with them wouldnt last.
Siddhartha shaved his hair and went on a journey of discovery. He wanted to understand suffering and so starved and deprived himself. He soon realized this wouldn't allow him to help others and so found the middle way.
