- Chapter 1
- Hi my name is Jem Finch and My name is Scout Finch
- Chapter 2
- Your father doesn't know how to teach, stop reading with him!
- My dad and I read every night!..
- Chapter 3
- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
- He is the most disgusting human I've ever seen.
- Relax they're just cooties.
- We are introduced to the main characters of the story. Scout Finch and Jem Finch. Scout narrates the look of Maycomb, their home. It is a slow conspiracy, Boo Radley. The town's people stay away from the rundown homes because they haven't seen the youngest son, Boo Radley, in about 15 years.
- Chapter 4
- With summer coming to an end, Scout would be starting school again. She already had the ability to read and write thanks to her father (Atticus) and the housemaid, Ms.Caroline was very angry that Atticus had already taught her to read. Scout felt upset by this and began to resent school
- Chapter 5
- Stop playing your Boo Radley game.
- Scout returns to school and we are introduced to a boy named Burris Ewell. He has lice and one of them had jumped out of his head and scared Mrs.Caroline. She had told him to leave and clean his hair but he had said he had already done his time. Then we found out that the Ewells have some leeway with the law because their father doesn't take care of his children. Atticus teaches Scout to walk in someone else's shoes and try to see their point of view
- Chapter 6
- Dill and Jem: RUN
- Scout and Jem find a hole in a tree where items have been hidden. They find many things like gum, coins, a ball of twine, a broken pocket watch, and even soup carvings of themselves. Summer started and Dill came back. Then one day, Jem proposed an idea to play as the Radley's
- These are the Indian Heads! They're magical!!
- The kid's kept playing the game all summer long. Scout has a talk with Ms.Maudie, Ms. Maudie explains how some Baptists are worse than drunk people. One day as the kids are playing the Radley game. Atticus comes home and explains why it's a bad idea to be playing that game in front of all the neighbors. Jem got angry at Atticus and they had stopped playing the game.
- We weren't playing that.
- The kids decide to peek inside the Radley's house. Mr.Radley sees them on his porch and fires his shotgun to scare them away. Jem loses his pants trying to get away. The whole neighborhood was gathered outside to see what happened. Atticus found Jem with no pants and started questioning him. Dill had lied and said that they were playing strip poker. Then later that night Jem goes back to get his pants but he was frightened.
